Man arrested in connection to hit and run, gun reportedly pulled

MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater Police Department arrested a suspect Thursday afternoon wanted in connection to a vehicle accident on May 23 in which a gun was pulled.

Christopher James Martin, 39, was arrested on the 300 block of South Mill Creek. Chief Joe Shurtz said Martin was arrested in connection to a vehicle crash that resulted in a hit and run. Shurtz said it was reported to officers that Martin also pulled a gun.

Officers made contact and arrested Martin on the following charges: menacing, pointing a firearm at another person, reckless driving, hit and run, second-degree criminal mischief, and a felon in possession of a firearm.

Martin was lodged into the Umatilla County Jail and the case is being forwarded to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office.
