COLLEGE PLACE – A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his brother inside a vehicle on State Route 125 near South College Avenue at 2:23 p.m. Tuesday. The Washington State Patrol said Richard F. Kendall, 68, was booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on suspicion of felony assault.
When the first trooper arrived on scene, Kendall was pacing back and forth along the highway, shouting, and had blood on and around his mouth along with his hands. The trooper also observed a blue Chevy pickup on the shoulder.
As additional law enforcement arrived, troopers attempted to contact Kendall who continued to shout and then attempted to get back into the pickup. Law enforcement was able to detain Kendall, who was combative and non-compliant.
Troopers learned Kendall’s brother, who had cuts and scrapes on his head, along with bloods on his hands was driving Kendall back home from a doctor’s appointment when Kendall reportedly became violent. Kendall allegedly started hitting his brother and bit him on the left hand.
Kendall was placed under arrest and a crisis response team responded and assisted in transporting Kendall to Providence St. Mary Medical Center where he received medical treatment before booking. Upon arrival at the hospital, the Washington State Patrol learned Kendall had been arrested three previous times last year in Oregon for assault.
