RITZVILLE – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reports Lance Roger, 31, of West Richland was taken into custody Tuesday morning for allegedly stealing a state vehicle. The pursuit ended on eastbound I-90, about two miles east of Ritzville.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said nobody was injured when one of its asphalt trucks was stolen at 7:15 a.m. from a WSDOT shed in Washtucna. The truck caught fire during the theft.

Sheriff Dale Wagner says Roger was taken into custody following a long pursuit from Highway 26 to 261 to I-90. During the pursuit, Roger aimed a firearm out the window of the stolen truck.

Roger is the suspect in multiple crimes including a drive-by shooting. He was taken into custody by the Washington State Patrol following a pursuit and the deployment of spike strips.

A portion of eastbound I-90 was temporarily closed due to the pursuit and vehicle fire. The interstate has since reopened.
