WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla police arrested Brian Rey Calderon, 30, last Thursday for allegedly introducing narcotics into the Walla Walla County Jail.

The day before the arrest, Calderon, who was on work release and working in the kitchen, called his girlfriend at 9:21 a.m. to discuss hiding methamphetamine near a dumpster outside the jail. His girlfriend and another woman, whose boyfriend is also on work release and working in the kitchen, delivered the drugs to the dumpster about 47 minutes after that initial phone call was made. Jail staff witnessed this on monitor feeds from various security cameras both inside and outside the jail facility.

Jail staff intercepted the call Calderon made from the jail to his girlfriend. Jail staff later sent a male inmate to the dumpster where he retrieved the drugs, which were found during a search as that inmate re-entered the facility.

At 12:56 p.m., Calderon made another call from the jail to his girlfriend where he shared he had been removed from work release and returned to regular inmate housing.

According to court documents, as per jail policy, the other inmate who retrieved the drugs from the drugs from the dumpster, was also removed from work release and returned to regular inmate housing. Calderon appeared in court on Friday and faces additional charges while being held on a $50,000 bond. The jail roster lists Calderon as being from Pasco.
