HEPPNER – A pretrial hearing is set for Thursday for Armando Samora Barragan, 39, of Irrigon at the Sixth Circuit Court facility in Heppner. Barragan was arrested on Aug. 1 for multiple sex crimes against a child. Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson said the case could come to trial soon.
“The defendant is still being held on his 60-day trial right,” Nelson said. “At this Thursday’s hearing, most likely the court will be setting a trial to occur within 60 days of the defendant’s initial arrest.”
Nelson said the case is being handled by Morrow County Deputy District Attorney Zach Williams. He presented the case that was investigated by the Boardman Police Department to a Morrow County Grand Jury. All of the charges against him are felonies including four counts of first-degree sexual abuse, one count of first-degree sodomy, one count of first-degree rape, one county of first degree unlawful sexual penetration, and one count of online sexual corruption of a child.
The court set Barragan’s bail at $510,000. Nelson said the charges against him come from acts allegedly committed in 2018 and 2019.
