Malheur National Forest rescinding all Public Use Restrictions and moves to Industrial Fire Precaution Level I

John Day, Prairie City and Hines-Effective 12:01 am, Wednesday, August 30, 2023, all districts of the Malheur National Forest (Blue Mountain, Prairie City, and Emigrant Creek Ranger Districts) will be rescinding all Public Use Restrictions and moving to an Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) of I. The Fire Danger Rating level will remain at Moderate for all districts.

Under Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) I, known as closed season, fire precaution requirements are in effect. A fire watch/security is required at this and all higher levels unless otherwise waived.

Seasonal Fire Restrictions will remain in place, with no saw shutdown at 1:00pm and campfires will be allowed in dispersed sites outside of designated campgrounds. Campfires will need to be enclosed in a fire ring and should never be left unattended. A shovel and gallon of water is required on site.
