Malheur National Forest reduces area closure near Rail Ridge Fire

The Malheur National Forest is reducing the area closure for the Rail Ridge Fire on the Blue Mountain Ranger District. For continued protection of public health and safety, fire managers have issued a new closure order described below. This closure will be effective November 7, 2024, through June 1, 2025, unless rescinded sooner.
This Forest Order, Malheur Rail Ridge Reduction of Fire Closure (06-04-01-25-08), rescinds and replaces the previous Malheur Rail Ridge Fire Perimeter Closure (06-04-01-25-01),
Closure Area Description:
• From the National Forest boundary in T14S, R27E, Sec. 4, east on the northern Township border to T14S, R27E, Sec. 2, south along the western border of Sections 2 and 11 to the junction of Forest Service Road 2150.
• East on Forest Service Road 2150 to T14S, R28E, Sec. 17, north along the western border of Sec. 17 to Sec. 8, east along the northern border of Sec. 8 to Sec. 9. North along the western border of Sections 9 and 4 to the Forest Service Boundary,
• East on the Forest Service Boundary to T14S, R28E, Sec. 1.
• South along the western border of T14S, R28E, Section 1 to the junction with Forest Service Road 2150 in T14S, R28E, Section 35.
• West on the 2150 road until the junction of the 2151-070 road in T14S, R28E, Section 27.
• South on the 2150-070 road to the junction of the 2170 in T15S, R28E, Section 10.
• West on the 2170 until the Forest Boundary in T15S R28E Section 1
• North along the Forest Boundary to T14S, R27E, Sec. 4.
• Closure includes the Cedar Grove Trail, trailhead, and parking.
Travel is prohibited on all Forest Service Roads on the perimeter or within the designated boundary of the Rail Ridge Fire Closure with the following exceptions:
• Forest Service Road 2150 is open to thru traffic only.
• Forest Service Road 2150-070 is open to thru traffic only.
• Forest Service Road 2170 is only open from the 2150-070 junction in T15S, R28E, Section 10 to the east, as shown outside of the closure area. The 2170 from the 2150-070 junction T15S, R28E, Section 10 to the west to the Forest Boundary remains closed.
Travel by vehicle or foot off FSR 2150 and 2150-070 is prohibited within the closure area. The 2140 and all other roads on the perimeter or within the designated boundary of the Rail Ridge Fire Closure remain closed to any traffic.
