Malheur National Forest North Zone Decreases Fire Danger and IFPL Levels

JOHN DAY, PRAIRIE CITY AND HINES (Released by the U.S. Forest Service-Malheur National Forest)-Effective 11:00am, Monday, August 19, 2024, the North Zone of the Malheur National Forest (Blue Mountain and Prairie City Ranger Districts) moved to a fire danger level of “High” and Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) III (3). These changes are due to decreasing temperatures and recent precipitation received in the area.

The South Zone of the Malheur National Forest (Emigrant Creek Ranger District) will remain at a fire danger level of “Extreme” and IFPL IV (4).

There will be no changes to Public Use Restrictions (PURs) at this time. The North and South Zones of the Malheur National Forest remain in Phase C of PURs.
