John Day, Prairie City and Hines-Starting January 16, 2024, the Malheur National Forest will begin the 2024 Firewood Season. This year there will be a new longer length product permit. This permit allows customers to purchase up to 16 trees, any length, per household per year. The minimum permit is 4 trees for $20, with the maximum of 16 trees for $80.
The tree cutting will follow much of the same guidelines as the firewood permits. The specific cutting information can be found in the current firewood guides.

Starting January 16, all timber forest product permits can be obtained by visiting and Malheur National Forest office.
