JOHN DAY, PRAIRIE CITY & HINES – (Press Release issued by the Malheur National Forest)

The Malheur National Forest Timber department would like to make the public aware that there is a discrepancy between what is stated in the firewood guide and what is stated on the firewood maps, regarding the distance for water buffers.

Please follow the verbiage on the firewood guides and the regulation on the firewood permit themselves.

The current regulation from the Firewood Guide states, “Do not cut or gather firewood: Within 300 feet distance from any live stream, lake or pond.”
