JOHN DAY – (Press Release from the Malheur National Forest)

The Malheur National Forest has temporarily implemented a closure restricting public access during the hours of 1 a.m. to 3 p.m. through September, on Forest Road 4900 from  the intersection of Grant County Road 49 at the forest boundary, south to the 4900-844 junction.

This temporary closure order has been issued to assure public safety during logging operations along forest road 4900. Crews will be operating heavy machinery along the road and steep slopes above that will pose a risk to public safety. Outside of these hours equipment will be staged along the road and the public is encouraged to use caution when passing through the area.

Closure signs and information will be posted at the forest boundary at the 4900-844,  and at the start of County Road 49 off Highway 26,  and this will include a map of the closure.

Information will be available on the Malheur National Forest website and at Forest offices.
