JOHN DAY – The Malheur National Forest wants to shine a light on some very important winged friends to the environment—bats. It’s National Bat Week, October 24th through the 31st, and the agency recently posted to social media asking folks to, “Take a moment today to appreciate all of the ecosystem services bats provide us every day.”

Those services include pollination, pest control and seed dispersal. For more information on bats and National Bat Week, visit www.batweek.org.
