Malheur National Forest announces new Deputy Forest Supervisor

John Day, Prairie City and Hines-The Malheur National Forest is pleased to announce Jason Brandt as the new Deputy Forest Supervisor.

Brandt comes to the Malheur National Forest from Boise, Idaho where he was the Branch Chief of Equipment and Services Branch with the Incident Procurement Operations Directorate with the Forest Service.

Previously he has been the Acquisition Director for the Rocky Mountain Research Station out of Fort Collins, Colorado as well as a Forest Service Contracting Officer out of the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho managing local and national contract for incident support and procurement activities.

Prior to coming to the Forest Service permanently, Brandt worked at the University of Montana, conducting forestry research across the Western United States. He attended the University of Idaho studying Forest Products and Forest Resources. Throughout his time as a student, he spent many summers with the Forest Service in Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Wyoming on various seasonal crews including timber and fire.

Originally from Tekoa, Washington, Brandt enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. In addition to the time with his family, he enjoys many outdoor activities including camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting.
