VALE – UPDATE: (From the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office)
At about 8:30 pm on Monday April 6, 2026 the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to reports of a man on an electric scooter waiving a gun around and threatening multiple individuals in the area of West Main Street and F Street, in Vale, Oregon. It was also reported by witnesses that Johnson made comments about filling them full of holes as well as shooting a cop.
The subject was identified as Zachary Blake Johnson, a 42-year-old, currently residing in Vale, Oregon. Shortly after the initial responding deputy arrived, Johnson retreated into a basement room of his residence.
Due to the nature and severity of Johnson’s threats and actions, MCSO introduced CS gas into Johnson’s room. Johnson quickly came out and was arrested without further incident.
Johnson is currently being held in the Malheur County Jail on charges of menacing, and disorderly conduct in the second degree. Johnson is also facing charges from a previous arrest for disorderly conduct in the second degree, and criminal trespass in the second degree.
MCSO is also seeking any other potential victims of Johnson’s actions as he had been throughout town on his scooter yesterday. If anyone has any similar incidents with Johnson they can be reported to the Malheur County Dispatch Center at (541)473-5125.
