Malheur County Sheriff Wolfe is retiring

Malheur County- (Released by Malheur County Sheriff’s Office) Retirement announcement: On February 28, 2023, members of the Malheur Country Sheriff’s Office convened for our annual All Staff meeting. At the end of the meeting, and after a delicious tri-tip lunch catered by our Sheriff Brian Wolfe, Sheriff Wolfe made his presentation. Sheriff Wolfe is a life-long citizen of the Malheur County community and served as a police officer for the City of Ontario before coming to the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Wolfe served as Undersheriff under Sheriff Andy Bentz until Sheriff Bentz retired and extended his hand to Undersheriff Wolfe to succeed him. Sheriff Wolfe continued to keep the Sheriff’s Office on the right course, keeping up with current laws and the needs of our local citizens while always being sensitive to his staff and their family’s needs. In true participative leadership fashion, Sheriff Wolfe would never ask of his subordinates to take on a task that he himself would not and often actually did do himself. One of the highest honors a leader can receive is the accolade of being someone you would be proud to “follow” into any conflict set before you. Sheriff Wolfe is that type of leader. At the culmination of his speech, Sheriff Wolfe announced that he would be retiring in April of this year (2023). Sheriff Wolfe extending his hand to his Undersheriff Travis Johnson the honor of being our interim Sheriff. Join me in wishing Sheriff Wolfe good luck in his future endeavors and a hearty thank you for his service to our community. Also, join me in congratulating Travis Johnson on his pending appointment as the Sheriff of Malheur County. (Det. Dan Perkins)
