MALHEUR COUNTY — Search and Rescue crews from Malheur County are looking for a Washington man whose family believes he may be missing.
Undersheriff David Kesey said the mother of 50-year-old Eric Westfall called the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office earlier this week and reported she had last contacted her son while he was in the Juntura area on April 17. The mother says he was last seen in the area of Juntura Springs on April 24 by another camper.
Westfall’s mom says he was traveling from his home in Kirkland, WA to Arizona. According to a flyer from the family, Westfall was camping along the way to Arizona in “off-the-grid-areas.”
Undersheriff Kesey says search and rescue crews and sheriff’s deputies have searched more than 1,000 miles of roads in the Malheur County area and did not locate him.
“He may have just moved on and at this point we really don’t know,” said Kesey.
Westfall is driving a silver 2013 Nissan Xterra. He’s also traveling with his dog that appears to be a white pitbull with a missing front leg.
Anyone who sees Westfall or has contact with him is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (541) 473-5125.
