Majors released, all charges dropped

JOHN DAY – Here’s an update to a story we reported on earlier. Grant County Communications logs recently showed that Travis Majors, 40, was arrested in response to the report of an assault. The family of Mr. Majors contacted the newsroom and requested we issue a statement saying, “Travis was released from jail and the charges have been dropped.”

This information was confirmed with Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley. Information regarding the circumstances around the arrest were not released. Find the original release below:

Last weekend was a particularly busy one for law enforcement, according to dispatch logs.

On Friday, at around 11 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a location on Aslin Avenue. Martin Easterday, 41, of Mt. Vernon was arrested for Menacing and Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree. No further details were released.

Late Friday night, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a local business on Main Street in John Day to the report of an assault. Travis Majors, 40, of Mt. Vernon was arrested. Nothing further was released from Grant County Emergency Communications Agency.

Early Saturday morning, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Blue Mt. Lodge in Mt. Vernon for a domestic dispute. Takoda Lee Propeck, 23, was arrested as a result. Nothing further was released regarding the arrest.

Very few official details have been released regarding a burglary near Prairie City. Sunday morning, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was advised of the incident near Old Bates Road. According to Grant County Emergency Communications logs, a stolen vehicle was recovered in Malheur County yesterday evening. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated as any further information comes in.
