PENDLETON – The Pendleton Development Commission meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday and the Pendleton City Council meeting follows at 7 p.m. Both meetings are in council chambers at Pendleton City Hall.

The PDC will be given an update on funding for future projects as well as potential changes to grants funding. The commission will also hear reports form the grants, Jump-Start, and advisory committees.

The city council has a number of first-of-the-year housekeeping items that require action. Those include renewing loans and the city’s investment policy, as well as extending the city’s contract with Anderson Perry, and a request that new flooring and exterior painting be added to the ongoing renovation of the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport.

On the agenda under ‘new business,’ the council will begin consideration of a question on the November ballot that gives voters the opportunity to ban psilocybin services within the city limits. Unlike marijuana, local governments are not allowed to tax psilocybin. The hallucinogen was legalized in Oregon with the passage of Ballot Measure 109 in 2020. People can apply for licenses to manufacture, transport, deliver, and sell the products in January 2023. Umatilla County has a ballot question coming in November for those living in unincorporated sections of the county. The city of Hermiston is considering a similar ballot question.

In addition to being open to the public, the meetings are also accessible via Zoom. The PDC meeting ID is 848 8298 2122 and the pass code is 248854. The PCC meeting ID is 885 7628 0707 and the pass code is 912756.
