Maggie Ledbetter Named CCC Field Athlete of the Week

LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced the Athlete of the Week awards presented by Rize Laboratories on Monday afternoon. EOU’s Maggie Ledbetter was named the Field Athlete of the Week for CCC Track and Field.
“Maggie overcame some poor weather to break her own school record with not one but two throws,” Head Coach Ben Welch said. “Given the weather, she is having an outstanding season in the shot so far and given her commitment and hard work, things should start to come together in the other throws and continue to go well in the shot.”
Ledbetter had a big evening on Friday highlighted by a program record-breaking throw in the shot put. The Cove product unleashed a throw of 14.43 meters to take the top spot in EOU Track and Field’s all-time record book as well as the top spot at the meet. Ledbetter also finished second in the discus with a throw of 35.77 meters, just .03 meters away from first place.
This week’s award is Ledbetter’s fourth of this year including indoor season and is the ninth Athlete of the Week Award for her career.
EOU Track and Field returns to action later this week at the Pacific University Multi meet. The two-day meet starts on Thursday, March 30.
