Long Creek School to continue with artists-in-residence & new curriculum

LONG CREEK –Long Creek School Superintendent Joan Walczyk was on KJDY’s Coffee Time on Tuesday morning, and is ready to hit the ground running after being handed the reigns from former Superintendent Larry Glaze. Walczyk said the district will continue many of their successful features into next school year, including their Artist-In-Residence Program:

“[We’ll] have artists-in-residence come like we have had the last couple of years. We have really enjoyed that. It has been a great opportunity for our small school. We’re looking at doing some ceramics, actually, for one of them, and getting some more equipment.”

On the same episode, former Superintendent Larry Glaze reflected on the new learning curriculums that will continue into next school year:

“We have purchased and implemented new curriculums in reading, mathematics, and science. We have new textbooks in all those subject matters, K-12. That’s been a real positive move for our teachers, to get us more consistent instruction from grade to grade to grade.”
