MT. VERNON – UPDATE: (6/28/23 – 9:00 a.m.) – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley informed our newsroom that his department is still working the case. The Sheriff said, “The vehicle was located and will be recovered today. The owner did not know it was even missing, as he had a medical issue and someone ‘borrowed’ it without his knowledge.”

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Here’s a friendly reminder to lock your vehicles. Grant County Emergency Communications logs show that the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle yesterday morning. The call came in around 7:57 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the Mt. Vernon Laundromat. It was not indicated if anyone was arrested or if the vehicle was recovered. We have communication into the Sheriff’s Office and will keep you updated once further information comes in.
