JOHN DAY – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley was on Coffee Time recently and noted that it can be easy to fall victim of the “winter blues” this time of the year. He encouraged anyone suffering from depression or having suicidal thoughts to reach out to someone:

“Reach out. I really push that. Talk to people. Reach out. Don’t just feel [like] you’re isolated there. There are people out there willing to talk, and we deal with a lot of that in this area come January/February…”

Local resources are available. In an emergency, call 9-1-1. The non-emergency dispatch line is (541) 575-0195. For the 24-hour Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, dial 9-8-8. Also, therapy and counseling are available through Community Counseling Solutions. For more information on that, log on to ccswebsite.org.
