SALEM – Gov. Tina Kotek recently announced a list of appointments to state boards and commissions. Umatilla School District Superintendent Heidi Sipe is a new appointee to the Oregon Department of Education’s Fair Dismissal Appeals Board.

There were also five area residents who were reappointed to boards and commissions. They are Morrow County Planning Director Tamra Mabbott to the Eastern Oregon University Board of Trustees; Pendleton Cemetery Specialist Melissa Porter to the Mortuary and Cemetery Board; retired educator John Scanlan to the Public Employees Retirement System Board of Directors; Hermiston School Superintendent Tricia Mooney to the Quality Education Commission; and Umatilla County Sheriff Terry Rowan to the Department of Safety Standards and Training Board of Directors.

“Oregonians deserve public service professionals who will dutifully serve the state with strong ethical guidelines and accountability,” Kotek said. “I am confident that the individuals being nominated today will serve the state with these values guiding their work.”

The appointments need confirmation from the Oregon Senate. The Senate Committee on Rules is expected to consider the nominations during May Legislative Days on May 29-31.
