Upon release from Missouri, Carlson returned to Harney County.  On November 27, 2023 Carlson located the protected party at Safeway and attacked him while shopping.  Carlson departed the store leaving the victim with injuries.

District Attorney Ryan Hughes prosecuted multiple cases involving Carlson.  After a course of treatment at the Oregon State Hospital, Carson was found competent to proceed and the criminal cases progressed.    Carlson plead guilty to misdemeanor Violating a Court’s Stalking Protective Order, Offensive Littering, Theft in the Second Degree, Identity Theft, felony Violating a Court’s Stalking Protective Order and Attempted Assault in the Second Degree.  The Identity Theft, felony stalking order violation and attempted assault resulted in a 25 month, 30 month and 70 month Oregon Department of Corrections sentences respectively.
