BURNS – Biz Harney, through the High Desert Partnership, is a group of community members who gather to discuss major areas of food focus and sustainability in Harney County. Kellie Frank, Food Systems Coordinator, said the goal is to provide stable food resources to the local community.
As part of these efforts, the group have partnered with the Burns High School Science Club:
“We wanted to…bring awareness and education, so, we thought, ‘Well, let’s plan a Harvest Festival.’
Roxanne Bailey is a member of the food systems group, and she’s doing amazing things with the Science Club. She said, ‘Well, maybe we can have a booth there. There are a lot of things that we can sell for a fundraiser.’ It has kind of grown from there.”
The Harvest Festival will be Saturday, October 7th at the Harney County Fairgrounds.
