Eastern Oregon – (Information from the Oregon FFA). Multiple students from Eastern Oregon FFA chapters made the finals of The National FFA Agriscience Fair. As stated by the Oregon FFA, “the National FFA Agriscience Fair recognizes students who gain real-world, hands-on experiences in agricultural enterprises. Students use scientific principles and emerging technologies to solve complex problems related to agriculture, food, and natural resources. The agriscience fair is for middle and high school students. Participation begins at the local level and progresses to state and national levels.” These Eastern Oregon finalists include the following:
In the Imbler Chapter, Eva Paulson and Paige Braseth participated in Power, Structural and Technical Systems Division 2. Helen Gordon and Hunter Voss participated in Plant Systems Division 4, and Ellie Turley and Keira Counsell participated in Animal Systems Division 2.
In the Baker City chapter, Chase Myall participated in Animal Systems Division 1.
Finally, in the Ontario Chapter, Alexandria Peters and Julie Kepra participated in Power, Structural and Technical Systems Division 6.
In Addition, several Eastern Oregon FFA chapters received the National Chapter Award. As sated by the Oregon FFA, “the National Chapter Award Program is designed to recognize FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality Chapter Standards (NQCS) and a Program of Activities (POA) that emphasize growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership. Chapters that receive a gold rating by their state FFA associations are eligible to compete for National FFA 3-star, 2-star or 1-star ratings.”The Elgin, Heppner, Imlber and Vale chapters received the 1 Star National Award, and the Central chapter received the 2 Star National Award.
