JOHN DAY – Today (Thursday) is the Grant County Fair’s salute to veterans and first responders, who get in the gates free for the day. Grant County Fair Board Chair Donna Palmer was recently on KJDY’s Coffee Time and noted that today is also a big day for the youth who are showing their animals:
“It’s a great opportunity for the kids to come together to show how hard they’ve worked with their animals. They are all looking forward to showing—showing their families, their grandparents, their aunts and uncles, and one another, what they’ve done with their animals and their projects throughout the year.
I think it’s just going to be a great fair for all the kids to come together, all the families to come together; and that’s what Grant County is all about—all of us coming together for the purpose of the kids.”
Livestock market events take place today, and showmanship events will happen Friday. The Grant County Youth Livestock Auction will be Saturday in the Heritage Barn beginning at 4 p.m.
