UMATILLA COUNTY – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners is delaying a decision on a request for the formation of the Meacham East Livestock District following a public hearing.

“It raised more questions than it answered, so the decision has been delayed for 90 days,” Board Chairman George Murdock said.

Murdock said that he will recommend that further conversation be allowed when the issue comes back before the board in January. He added that neither side was contentious during the hearing, there were just a large number of people who wanted to be heard.

Also at the Wednesday meeting, the board approved the Oregon Department of Transportation’s amendments for the Butter Creek Quarry and the Vinson Canyon Quarry. The Boardman to Hermiston connector strategic report was also approved.
