Lions’ member Melodie Nicholes named Elgin Woman of the Year

ELGIN – (Release from the Elgin Lions Club) Elgin Lion, Melodie Nicholes, was recently recognized at the “Woman of the Year,” at the Elgin Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Although new to the Lions’ organization, Melodie has given time to help set the Lions’ table at the banquet and collected a large bag of pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald facility, housing parents close to their child’s medical needs.

In other club action, the Lions have been ushering for the Opera House, “Oklahoma,” selling Duck tickets for the Elgin Riverfest, collecting prizes for the Car Show at Riverfest, repairing planter boxes at the Lions’ Community Garden, and organizing “Flags for First Graders” for the Elgin and Imbler Districts. The club also sent $500 to the Oregon Sight and Hearing program in memory of Keith Warren, who has chaired that committee many years.
