Lightning sparks a new blaze in Wasco County

WASCO COUNTY – The Wasco County Sheriff’s Office reports lightning sparked a grass fire that is forcing some residents out of their homes.

The sheriff’s office issued Level 3 (Go Now) evacuation notices for the entire city of Antelope. The Shaniko Schoolhouse has been pressed into service as the temporary shelter for those leaving their homes.

Power was reported to be out for a number of communities. They included Shaniko and Clairno. For the most up-to-date information, check the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
