LHS Principal Brett Baxter is Stepping Down

LA GRANDE – (Release from the La Grande School District) La Grande High School Principal Brett Baxter announced Thursday, April 20, he will step down at the end of the school year to take a position as assistant superintendent of the Wallowa County Education Service District.

Mr. Baxter has served as principal at La Grande High School for the last 10 years. Previously, he had served as a principal at Greenwood Elementary, assistant principal at La Grande High School, and an English teacher at La Grande High School. La Grande School District is appreciative of Mr. Baxter’s 20 years of dedicated service within our district. During his tenure, the high school has experienced dramatic change from bond construction and state grants and expanded student opportunities like the CTE Pathways program.

La Grande School District is working to secure a new principal for the 2023/24 school year who will continue to build strong programs and engaging learning opportunities for all our students this coming Fall.
