LA GRANDE – The La Grande High School Girls Wrestling team is riding high in the rankings, securing the #1 spot in the latest coaches’ poll. This impressive achievement highlights the team’s consistency and strength throughout the season.
Senior wrestlers Paige Allen and Lyndie Isaacson have both reached the milestone of 100 career wins, a testament to their dedication and skill. The team has also gained national recognition, ranking 49th by USA Wrestling—making them the only Oregon school to appear on the national list.
As a team, LHS has been on a roll, winning five tournaments, placing 4th at the Women’s West Coast Tournament of Champions, 2nd at the Reno Sierra Nevada Classic, and 2nd at Oregon Classic going 7-1.
The team’s success is due to the leadership and consistency of the senior class. “The senior class has stayed extremely consistent and has shown great leadership,” said head coach Rusty Gulzow.
Looking ahead, the team is on track for a fourth regional title and has a strong chance of securing back-to-back state championships.
Fans are invited to support the team during their Senior Night tonight, January 30th, at La Grande High School. The dual starts at 5 PM, with senior recognitions scheduled for 7 PM.
