LA GRANDE – The La Grande High School Girls Wrestling Team brought home another 1st Place title at this past weekend’s state tournament and the boys team brought home 3rd Place.
La Grande School Superintendent George Mendoza has this to say when asked about the teams successes.
“You know, I love to see our kids do well in any kind of club or sport…people here really like to invest in their children, and the athletes get invested…and when you have great families and great kids and great staff and a great community, you get pretty good results.
“…Our boys team got third place, they also had a couple state champions, and they’re perennially in the top three, so there hasn’t been a time in the last eight years where they haven’t either title or been second place or been third place.”
“For our girls, we had two girls that finished in 2nd Place and then two girls that finished in 3rd and then we also had a number of other athletes that earned points that were also strong contributors.”
“…Great kids, great parents, great staff, great coaches usually are creating these kinds of consistently strong results.”
