LA GRANDE – (Information provided by Oregon Trail Electric Coop) With the upgrade of the La Grande School District’s heating and ventilation system, the district has received an EPA Grant from Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative. OTEC spokesperson says the $76,000 EPA Grant Energy Conservation is calculated in the rates that Bonneville Power charge utilities for power, at no extra cost to the members. Recently, the La Grande School District upgraded the fans in their HVAC with variable frequency drives. In the past the fans had one speed, but with the upgrade they have multiple speeds. LGSD can set the fans to cruise or ramp up to full speed depending on the need. This helps the school save money.
This program is in partnership with Bonneville Power Administration.
Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative said, “We appreciate the opportunity to partner with our local communities to save energy and reduce their overall monthly bills. It’s a win/win for our communities.”
