LGPD Officer Garrett Jones Graduates from Basic Police Academy

LA GRANDE – (Information from the La Grande Police Department) Congratulations to LGPD Officer Garrett Jones for officially graduating from the Oregon Basic Police Academy on May 12. In the announcement, the La Grande Police department wrote:

“The Basic Police Academy is located in Salem, Oregon and is a 16-week (640 hour) training program. The Police Academy helps develop basic skills in all the disciplines needed for performing patrol work. The training involves classroom, skills and scenario-based training.

In addition to attending the Police Academy, each LGPD recruit must also complete a 3 to 4 month Field Training Program (on-the-job training) before they can work patrol in a solo status.

We are very proud of Officer Jones, congratulate him for this accomplishment, and look forward to getting him back home. “
