PENDLETON – Ryan Lehnert has retired as corporal for the Pendleton Police Department after 28 years in law enforcement. Lehnert is not looking for rest and relaxation, however. He has taken a position with Community Counseling Solutions which will provide him with more time for his family and more predictable hours while also allowing him to make a difference in the lives of others.
“It’s a law enforcement liaison position and crisis intervention team training coordinator,” he said. “It also works with adult protective services, assisting in investigations to prevent elder abuse. Then, another area would be peer support, where I can help other officers and firemen.”
Lehnert, who was also deployed with the Oregon National Guard, says he’s passionate about wanting to help people who are down and he believes he can help because he’s walked a mile in their shoes.
“I’ve been knocked down and had to get up off the ground, dust off and carry on,” he said. “CCS has been really good in welcoming me aboard.”
