Lawmakers plan to keep Capitol open for short session

JOHN DAY – Oregon House District 60 Representative Mark Owens was on KJDY’s Coffee Time recently. He noted he’s pleased that officials are planning to keep the Capitol in Salem open for the upcoming short legislative session:

“The biggest impact that COVID had this last year was a closed Capitol…

The Capitol being closed was a horrific way to build policy. It was also—we were trying to build policy virtually—so you were trying to build policy off of sound bites, not conversations.”

The 2022 Oregon Legislative Session will begin February 1st.
