LA GRANDE – (Information from La Grande Police Department) In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. During this week, law enforcement throughout our Nation pays special recognition to those officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
On Friday, May 13, 2022 the La Grande Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office, and Oregon State Police will partner to honor and remember law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Special tribute will be given to the four law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty in La Grande and Union County.
The ceremony will take place at 1:00 pm in front of the La Grande Police Department / Union County Sheriff’s Office at 1109 K Avenue in La Grande.
The public is welcome to join us as we remember and honor these officers and their families.
