Law enforcement busy during Round-Up; PPD fields over 800 calls

PENDLETON – An influx of people usually means a busier time for law enforcement, and last week’s Pendleton Round-Up was certainly not an exception to that rule.

 Pendleton police handled 846 calls from Sep. 14 through Sep. 20. For comparison 559 calls were fielded the week before, according to a post on the PPD Facebook page. 

The calls were broken down as follows:

In addition, Oregon State Police reported 19 driving under the influence stops in the Pendleton area from Thursday through Sunday.

“Round-Up week takes a tremendous amount of preparation, coordination and long hours,” PPD said in a statement. “Thank you to our officers, dispatchers, partner agencies and community members who helped make another Pendleton Round-Up week a safe and successful one.”
