BAKER CITY – (Release from Saint Alphonsus) Lauren Smith, MSN, RN has been named Executive Director of Nursing for the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group. She brings more than 22 years of nursing experience in critical care, performance and process improvement, risk management, and clinic operations.
Smith joins Saint Alphonsus from St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, where she most recently served as Practice and Programs Director in Orthopedics. She has also worked as an Operations Improvement Coach at St. Luke’s, mentoring frontline staff and providers on lean thinking to minimize waste, improve productivity and make continuous improvements in patient care.
“Lauren has a passion for clinical team development to ensure the right care is delivered at the right time, every time,” said Dr. Mark Nassir, President of Saint Alphonsus Medical Group. “Her background in colleague and patient safety aligns with our Core Value of Safety, and she will be a tremendous champion and advocate for our colleagues and patients.”
In her role as SAMG Executive Director of Nursing, Smith will work collaboratively across the medical group to lead and support change efforts to improve accreditation readiness, and develop standards of care for colleague and patient safety.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boise State University and a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from Western Governors University. She started her career as a unit clerk and Nurse Apprentice in the Emergency Department at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise.
