JOHN DAY – Assistant ODFW John Day District Wildlife Biologist Ryan Platte was on KJDYโ€™s Coffee Time informing listeners of the results of their spring wildlife counts. Platte mentioned that it was challenging this year to get a good estimate with the late-season snow the area received:

โ€œWe do our spring helicopter flights at the end of March. It was a little trickier this year because normally when we do our counts, we have some green-up to pull the critters out of the timber so theyโ€™re a little easier to count. [We] didnโ€™t have that this year; kind of a little trickier to find critters.โ€
