JOHN DAY – Assistant ODFW John Day District Wildlife Biologist Ryan Platte was on KJDY’s Coffee Time informing listeners of the results of their spring wildlife counts. Platte mentioned that it was challenging this year to get a good estimate with the late-season snow the area received:

“We do our spring helicopter flights at the end of March. It was a little trickier this year because normally when we do our counts, we have some green-up to pull the critters out of the timber so they’re a little easier to count. [We] didn’t have that this year; kind of a little trickier to find critters.”
