PRAIRIE CITY – Prairie City Volunteer Fire Chief Marvin Rynearson recently told Coffee Time listeners that the department was slightly busier than average last year:

“The total for 2023, we had 23 alarms of various natures. That’s a little bit above the previous years. We average probably around 18. This year, so far, we’re on our 4th.

Things are still happening, and we’re still there ready to go.”

Chief Rynearson reminds all Grant County residents to be safe when doing your spring cleanup burning. Also, for Prairie City residents, yard debris can be dropped off free of charge at the city’s burn pile at the west end of town. Contact City Hall in Prairie for further details.
