PENDLETON – The Pendleton UAS Test Range is not limited to operations solely at the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport. Manager Darryl Abling says it depends on what type of drone is being developed when determining the best place to test it. Some want wide open spaces.
“We just brought on two additional landowners in the local area where we’re doing ops off their property,” Abling said. “They get paid for every day that there’s activity on their land so it’s very attractive to them.”
Abling said some UAS tests are also being carried out at the Lexington Airport in Morrow County, and he’s interested in hearing from landowners whose properties could be testing sites.
“We’re always open to talking to new people that have wide open spaces and might want to be a part of this,” he said.
