La Grande’s Crazy Days Event Promises a Whirlwind of Fun and Excitement!

LA GRANDE — Crazy Days is back, and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever! 

Monica McLaughlin, Executive Director of La Grande Main Street Downtown, expressed her excitement about the event, saying, “The goal this year was to have something for everyone, as the past years have been a little stale. This will be an exciting and really fun opportunity to show off downtown businesses and our great community.”

The event kicks off Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and lasts through Saturday.

With 23 vendors offering a diverse range of crafts, jewelry, and delicious food, attendees will have plenty to explore and enjoy. The event coincides with the 63rd annual La Grande Classic Car Show, organized by the Timbers Cruisers. Car enthusiasts will have the chance to admire classic cars and engage in lively conversations with fellow enthusiasts.

This is the 63rd year the event is being held and the town will be buzzing with a variety of activities and festivities that are sure to please everyone.

The highly anticipated window decorating contest has transformed the main street into a colorful tapestry of creativity. Local businesses have unleashed their imaginations, adorning their storefronts with captivating displays.

Pie enthusiasts are in for a treat with the pie contest on Saturday the 15th.  Participants have brought their best creations, with one pie judged and the other auctioned for charity. The air is sure to be filled with the sweet aroma of freshly baked pies as judges prepare to taste the delicious entries. Entries are still open for those who wish to submit their best pie.

Thrill-seekers can test their skills at the National Guard Climbing Wall, conquering its formidable heights while enjoying breathtaking views. Kids, meanwhile, can jump for joy in the bouncy house provided just for them.

The Island City Lions offer a whimsical Pig Train ride, delighting children with its charming allure.  Sports enthusiasts can compete in the Tap That Cornhole Tournament, showcasing their aim and teamwork. Spectators can enjoy demonstrations by Copperhead Jiu Jitsu, Becky’s Dance, and Karate Studio, showcasing local talent.

For those who love angling, the Alpine Archery fly fishing contest awaits, where participants can showcase their skills and compete for prizes. HQ Beer garden serves as a hub for refreshments, and a “garage band” sale caters to music lovers.

Adding a touch of dance to the event, the “Do You Think You Can Dance” contest will take place on Saturday, inviting talented individuals to showcase their dance moves and compete for recognition. It’s an opportunity for participants to dazzle the crowd with their skills and entertain everyone with their captivating performances.

Max Square comes alive with live music both days, and Merlyn’s hosts a pancake breakfast to kickstart the day. La Grande Parks and Rec hosts a sidewalk chalk art and paper airplane contest, fueling creativity.
