LA GRANDE —  A quiet night erupted into chaos after a La Grande woman allegedly decided to turn a parking lot into her own personal demolition derby.

La Grande Police were called to the Grande Woods Apartments on Gekeler Lane just before 9:00pm on March 12 on reports of a woman “playing bumper cars” in the parking lot and hitting multiple parked vehicles with their car.

Officers arrived and made contact with 37-year-old Dixie Marie Rector, who was walking away from the suspect vehicle. Police say she was yelling and screaming and would not calm down.

Witnesses on scene identified Dixie as the driver who was hitting parked cars with her vehicle.

Through the investigation, officers were able to confirm the suspect vehicle, a 2008 Pontiac G6, was registered to Rector and she had the keys in her pocket.

Police say she continued to scream and yell and would not cooperate with the officers.  When officers tried to arrest her, she resisted arrest and tried to jerk and pull away from the officers.

After a short struggle, the officers were able to get Dixie into handcuffs without injury. She was arrested and transported to the Union County Jail where she was booked on charges of Hit & Run, Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.

It was determined that besides Dixie’s vehicle, three other parked vehicles were damaged resulting in approximately $2000 worth of damage.
