La Grande transient arrested after damaging local business and fleeing police

LA GRANDE- (Information from La Grande Police) April 10, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m., the La Grande Police Department (LGPD) received a 911 call reporting suspicious activity at Mountain Valley Therapy in La Grande. The caller reported seeing a male wearing a black hoodie and black pants throw a bag through a window at the business.

Officers responded immediately and spoke with several witnesses who confirmed the incident. Based on their statements, a detailed description of the suspect was obtained. The suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived.

La Grande Police, with assistance from the Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO), began searching the area. The suspect, later identified as Brian Moore, a transient known to local law enforcement, was located a short time later near Interstate 84. Upon police contact, Moore fled on foot.

Officers and deputies familiar with Moore from prior professional contacts recognized him. Surveillance footage from Mountain Valley Therapy also confirmed Moore as the individual who broke the window.

A deputy later relocated Moore near Timber Ridge Apartments. When officers and deputies attempted to arrest him, Moore again fled. An LGPD officer pursued and was able to catch up to him. After refusing commands to stop, Moore was tasered. He then complied and was taken into custody without further incident.

Brian Moore was lodged at the Union County Jail and charged with:

  • Criminal Trespass II
  • Escape III

The La Grande Police Department would like to thank the Union County Sheriff’s Office for their outstanding support and assistance in this investigation.
