La Grande Tiger House One is almost move-in ready, Tiger House two is in the works

LA GRANDE – Members of the community were invited to an open house late last week for the first Tiger House built in part by La Grande High School Students.  During this 2-hour event, people were able to tour the two-story duplex and admire the work done by students.

Scott Carpenter, Assistant Superintendent with the La Grande School District, welcomed everyone and read a letter from Superintendent George Mendoza.

Gus Tsiatsos then spoke on the construction process that took place and read the following letter from Oregon Governor Tina Kotek.

La Grande High School Student McClain Larreau, who participated in the building of the Tiger House, spoke to those in attendance, thanking everyone for coming to see the house to see the hard work that everyone put into this project—noting what a surreal feeling it was to look back on when they first started this project and then to see it completed.  Larreau noted that this project provided endless learning opportunities.

The Tiger House is being sold to Grande Ronde Hospital for use as long-term temporary staff housing.

A second Tiger House is already in the works next to Tiger House One.  These homes are located on the corner of I and 3rd in La Grande.
