La Grande Roadway Closure/2nd Street Reconstruction Project Update

LA GRANDE – (Release from La Grande Public Works) The Second Street (Penn Avenue to K Avenue) reconstruction project has reached the final stage of traffic control. The intersection of Second Street and K Avenue will be closed beginning today, May 22, 2023. Crews will be tying the replacement 18-inch water main into the existing main to complete this phase of the project. The intersection is expected to close around 8:30 am following early morning school traffic and will remain closed until the work is completed. It is anticipated that the intersection will be closed for the remainder of Monday and opened sometime late Tuesday. Following chlorination and testing, the water phase of this project will be completed.
Second Street between Penn Avenue and K Avenue will continue to be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project, so plan on alternative routes for your commute for the next few months. The intersections of M and N Avenue will remain open during the project. Please contact Public Works at (541) 962-1325 with any questions.
