La Grande Police Department welcomes new officer Damian Hernandez

LA GRANDE – The La Grande Police Department welcomes the newest officer to the LGPD family, 24-yaer-old Damian Hernandez. Hernandez is a graduate of Elgin High School and served in the Navy from 2015-2019. According to the department, he continued as a reservist the last two years. He enjoys hunting and fishing, and just bought a home in La Grande.

“(Being an officer is) something I’ve always thought about doing,” Hernandez said. He liked the structure the military gave him but wanted to stay close to home. “I wanted to keep the community safe while contributing to it.”
