LA GRANDE – In an effort to combat pill abuse and theft, the La Grande Police Department (LGPD) is once again hosting a drug take back day. Local residents are asked to clear out their homes of any old, expired, or otherwise unwanted prescription medications and turn them over to the LGPD for safe disposal.
The take-back event is this Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the La Grande Safeway parking lot, 2111 Adams Ave. The LGPD will be accepting controlled, non-controlled, and over-the-counter pills, liquids, and other substances. Vaping products, including vaping pens, are also accepted without batteries. Note that IV solutions, injectables, syringes, chemotherapy medications, and other medical waste CANNOT be accepted.
The La Grande drug take back event is one of many taking place during the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Drug Take Back Day on October 26. For more information on National Drug Take Back Day and safe drug disposal, visit https://www.dea.gov/takebackday
